Sunday, a gunman opened fire inside a busy shopping mall in the Danish capital, killing multiple people and wounding others, according to police.

Copenhagen police inspector Sren Thomassen told reporters that a 22-year-old Danish man was arrested and that there was no evidence that anyone else was involved in the attack, though police were still investigating.

Such incidents are uncommon in Denmark. Thomassen stated that it was too early to speculate on the motive for the shooting, which occurred in the late afternoon at Field’s, one of the largest shopping malls in Scandinavia on the outskirts of Copenhagen.

According to witnesses, when the shots rang out, some people hid in stores while others fled in a panicked stampede.
